During a working visit to Vakhsh district, the Chairman of Khatlon Region, Davlatali Said, together with the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan, Kurbon Hakimzoda, inspected the readiness of agricultural machinery and equipment at the “Kulyab” seed farm in preparation for the timely sowing of agricultural crops, especially cotton.
The “Kulyab” seed farm is recognized as one of the largest in the region and primarily focuses on cotton cultivation. To supply the district’s cotton farms, over 800 tons of high-quality cotton seeds have been prepared, including 150 tons of the 93-26 variety, 500 tons of Sultan, 100 tons of Laser, and 10 tons of Maya-455.
The farm has the capacity to fully meet the needs of the region's cotton producers with domestic seeds during the sowing season.
The regional chairman and accompanying officials reviewed the readiness of more than 100 units of agricultural machinery and 30 seeders displayed at the site.
During the inspection, it was emphasized that proper preparation of machinery and seeders, in accordance with agrotechnical standards, is crucial for the planting of cotton seeds.
To boost cotton production, and as per the regional chairman's directive, the district’s farmers are expected to sow cotton under film on 2,000 hectares of land. Five film seeders are currently ready for use in this type of modern planting.
It was also reported that since the establishment of the Republican Unitary State Enterprise “TajikAgroLizing,” the district has received agricultural machinery and equipment worth 27 million somoni through financial leasing.
During the review of agricultural equipment, operators, farmers, and agricultural officials were instructed to prepare all necessary machinery according to agrotechnical standards before the sowing campaign begins.
Chairman Davlatali Said instructed district heads, jamoat leaders, and dehkan farmers to use high-yielding, climate-adapted, and certified cotton seeds during the sowing period and to complete the planting within the designated timeframe.
