Familiarization of the Regional Chairman with the Progress of Field Work in Kubodiyon District
In order to assess the state of agricultural activity, the efficient use of land, the harvesting of agricultural crops, chemical treatment against harmful insects, and the implementation of construction and landscaping efforts ahead of the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Chairman of Khatlon Region, Davlatali Said, paid a working visit to Kubodiyon District.
During the visit, the Chairman became acquainted with the work of the district's farmers in cultivating cotton and other agricultural crops.
It was reported that this year, farmers in Kubodiyon District planted cotton on 7,580 hectares of land, including 800 hectares under plastic mulch.
In the Nosiri Khusrav jamoat, the Chairman visited the “Orzu” dehkan farm and familiarized himself with its cotton and vegetable cultivation activities.
This year, the farm’s shareholders planted crops under plastic mulch on 5 hectares. Thanks to adherence to agrotechnical standards in processing and cultivation, they achieved significant results.
It was noted that the growth of cotton in this farm is clearly visible — each cotton bush now holds 10 to 12 bolls.
Farmers expect to harvest up to 50 centners per hectare this year. This achievement reflects the dedication of the farmers and shareholders in planting and nurturing the cotton crop.
During his visit, Chairman Davlatali Said instructed the farmers to align their work — including processing, fertilizing, irrigation, and pest control — with modern agrotechnical standards to ensure high yields.
It is worth noting that every piece of land in the farm is used effectively and wisely. For example, on a 50-sotka experimental plot, a maize variety known as “Mekadonia” was planted. It is currently growing well and is cultivated mainly for consumption.
The farmers' experience shows that this variety is well-suited to the region's climate and soil conditions, and with proper agrotechnical care, good harvests can be achieved.
Responsible individuals at the farm were instructed to expand the planting area of this crop in the future, increase production, and establish its export to foreign markets.
Early onions were also planted on a 30-sotka plot in this farm, and the farmers have already begun harvesting the results of their efforts.
Chairman Davlatali Said also visited the “Mahmadpalvon” dehkan farm, where he observed effective land use and chemical treatment against pests, including spider mites, on farmland located in the village of Havasor.
It was reported that the farm has 12 hectares of irrigated arable land, of which 6.5 hectares are planted with cotton, now showing good development. Farmers have already completed inter-row cultivation, irrigation, and the first round of fertilization in accordance with agrotechnical standards.
The farm’s shareholders hope that favorable weather will allow them to harvest a high yield of cotton this year.
Additionally, the farm has planted a Chinese variety of maize on 1.5 hectares, which is currently in a healthy growth phase.
Farmers in Kubodiyon District continue to gain experience in horticulture year by year. In the Takhti Sangin jamoat, the “Muhammadsodiq” dehkan farm is engaged in viticulture, cultivating 5 hectares of vineyards with varieties such as “Prezidentsky,” “Shakhona,” and “Pobeda.”
Observations show that the vineyards are in good condition, and harvesting is expected to begin in about 15 to 20 days.
