On 4 December 2023, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan between the Minister of Finance, Kakhkhorzoda Fayziddin Sattor, and the Chairman of the Saudi Fund for Development, Sultan Abdulrahman Al-Marshad.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the implementation of joint investment projects in priority sectors, particularly in the energy sector and other real sectors of the economy, and expressed their readiness to further develop and strengthen cooperation.
At the same time, a signing ceremony of a credit agreement between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Saudi Fund for Development was held for the Rogun Hydropower Plant construction project. The agreement was signed by the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan, Kakhkhorzoda Fayziddin Sattor, and the Chairman of the Saudi Fund for Development, Sultan Abdulrahman Al-Marshad.
The main objective of the agreement is to participate in financing the construction of the Rogun Hydropower Plant in order to increase the production of renewable electricity and promote the “green economy” in the Republic of Tajikistan.
The total amount of the agreement is 100.0 million US dollars, which will be fully financed through a concessional loan provided by the Saudi Fund for Development.
