With the support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the State Institute “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development”, in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Tajikistan, is conducting “Soil Doctors” training seminars across the country under the Strengthening Resilience of the Agriculture Sector Project.
This time, the training seminar was held in the districts of the Rasht Valley, where scientists and soil specialists discussed pressing issues facing the sector.
The seminar, organized with the participation of agricultural professionals, particularly soil scientists, lasted for two days (8–9 July). As part of the programme, experts conducted field-based practical sessions using modern equipment to identify various soil elements and determine the actual condition and composition of the soil, presenting the findings to participants.
The presentations covered a wide range of important topics, including methods for determining the chemical and physical composition of soil, approaches to improving soil structure, and strategies for the integrated study and conservation of soil.
The purpose of such training seminars is to strengthen the capacity of specialists in addressing existing challenges in a timely manner, promote the use of modern technologies in current agricultural practice, support the efficient use of land resources, enable the identification of soil composition elements through modern equipment, and ultimately contribute to increasing agricultural crop productivity.
This initiative was designed specifically for soil science specialists so that, through the use of modern technologies, they can further enhance their knowledge and skills and apply scientific approaches more effectively in practice.
During the seminar, participants raised questions on key issues facing the sector and deepened their understanding of the principles of soil science and agrochemistry.
The conclusion of the seminar was a memorable moment for each participant, as they successfully completed the soil diagnostics training and received “Soil Doctors” certificates. The participants also expressed their sincere appreciation to the State Institute “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development” for organizing such a valuable initiative.
