With the support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development”, jointly with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in the Republic of Tajikistan, has been conducting a series of “Soil Doctors” training seminars across the country under the “Strengthening Resilience of the Agriculture Sector Project”.
This time, the training seminar was held at the Vakhsh Experimental Soil and Reclamation Station, where scientists and specialists in the field of soil science discussed pressing issues facing the sector.
The two-day seminar, held on 15 and 16 September 2026, brought together agricultural specialists, particularly soil scientists. In accordance with the programme, the participating scientists conducted field-based assessments using modern equipment to identify various elements present in the soil and determine the actual condition and composition of the soil, presenting the findings to the participants.
Presentations on determining the chemical and physical composition of soil, as well as the condition and improvement of its structural properties, covered a wide range of important topics aimed at applying strategies for the study and integrated conservation of soil.
The objective of these training seminars is to ensure the timely preparation of sector specialists to address existing challenges, introduce modern technologies into the sector’s current activities, promote the efficient use of land, identify soil composition elements using modern equipment, and further increase the productivity of agricultural crops.
The event was organized for soil science specialists, enabling them, through the use of modern technologies, to further strengthen their knowledge and skills and apply scientific knowledge in practice in the future.
During the seminar, participants raised questions with the responsible specialists regarding pressing issues in the sector and gained practical knowledge of the specific aspects of soil science and agrochemistry.
The conclusion of the seminar was an interesting and memorable moment for each participant. Having mastered the key aspects of soil diagnostics, the participants were able to receive “Soil Doctor” certificates and expressed their appreciation to the State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development” for this valuable initiative.
