On 27 September, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, was presented with the project for the construction of an Agro-Logistics Center in the city of Khorog.
The Agro-Logistics Center will be constructed by the State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development” within the industrial zone of Khorog city, on an area of 2 hectares. The Center is intended for the reception, storage, processing, and preparation of agricultural products. Its capacity will allow up to 600 tons of agricultural products to be received and processed at the same time.
According to the project, three modern technological lines will be installed at the Center. Agricultural products will undergo sorting, cleaning, quality control, labeling, and packaging, and will be prepared in accordance with domestic market requirements and international standards. As a result, 64 permanent and seasonal jobs will be created.
The Agro-Logistics Center will process and package fruits and vegetables produced in the mountainous conditions of Badakhshan.
One of the main objectives of establishing such a Center is to prevent losses of agricultural products and create favorable conditions for their long-term storage. By utilizing modern storage and processing facilities, high-quality agricultural products will be supplied to the market, creating conditions for increasing farmers’ incomes and strengthening the competitiveness of domestically produced products.
During the presentation of the project, the Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, instructed the responsible officials of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as scientists and sector specialists, to ensure high-quality construction and installation of technological equipment and to widely apply advanced technological practices in the construction of the facility.
The responsible officials were also instructed to create the necessary conditions for the storage, processing, and preparation of agricultural products, while paying particular attention to product quality and compliance with the requirements of international markets.
Overall, the construction of the Agro-Logistics Center in Khorog is being implemented under the “Strengthening Resilience of the Agriculture Sector Project”. Under this project, the establishment of five Agro-Logistics Centers is planned in the cities of Dushanbe, Khorog, and Khujand, and in Dangara and Jaloliddini Balkhi districts.
The implementation of such initiatives will contribute to the development of agricultural infrastructure, support agricultural producers, increase the volume of product processing and storage, and create new export opportunities.
