The State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development”, with the support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, within the framework of the “Strengthening Resilience of the Agriculture Sector Project”, imported 105,000 ornamental rare tree saplings and 139,137 rootstocks for the development of the nursery sector and delivered them to 13 nursery farms under the State Unitary Enterprise “Tojikniholparvar” of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan. This initiative will directly contribute to the implementation of the state program for planting 2 million trees and improving the environment.
In addition, to strengthen the technical capacity of the farms, the 13 nursery farms across the republic were also provided with machinery and equipment, including:13 small tractors, 13 small trailers, 13 garden tillers/cultivators, 10 drilling units and 50 pruning and shaping tools for orchards and vineyards.
The imported saplings are certified, adapted to the climatic conditions of Tajikistan, and highly productive. During field visits conducted this week, specialists of the institution particularly inspected the growth and development of saplings at the nursery farms of Masaidov in B. Gafurov District, Anorqulov in Asht District, subsidiary state nursery farm of Isfara city, and other nursery farms in Sughd Region, and highly evaluated their performance.
Specialists in horticulture and viticulture made effective use of the favorable weather conditions and ensured the timely implementation of agrotechnical activities between nursery rows within the established timeframes.
Currently, the condition and growth of the newly planted saplings and rootstocks are good, and agrotechnical measures such as soil loosening around saplings, weed removal, fertilization, irrigation, protective measures, and other field activities are continuing steadily.
During the monitoring of the actual condition of the saplings, sector specialists observed that their cultivation has been properly organized and that their growth performance is satisfactory.
