On 24 July 2026, an official ceremony was held at the Istiqlol Health Complex to hand over 22 vehicles from the State Institution "Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development" to the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan under the One Health for Pandemic Prevention, Food Systems Resilience, and Ecosystem Health in Central Asia Project. The vehicles are intended to strengthen the country's epidemiological surveillance system.
The ceremony was attended by Abdukholiq Amirzoda, Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan; senior representatives of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance Service; Daler Satori Abdumansur, Director of the State Institution "Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development"; and heads of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance Centers from a number of cities and districts across the country.
Opening the ceremony, Deputy Minister Abdukholiq Amirzoda emphasized that protecting public health remains one of the highest priorities of the social policy of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. Under the leadership of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, substantial efforts have been undertaken to strengthen the healthcare system, enhance sanitary and epidemiological security, and improve public access to quality healthcare services.
It was emphasized that the prevention of pandemics and zoonotic diseases in Tajikistan is viewed not merely as the responsibility of a single ministry, but as a national priority requiring coordinated action across sectors.
As noted during the event, the One Health for Pandemic Prevention, Food Systems Resilience, and Ecosystem Health in Central Asia Project brings together four key sectors:. The project's primary objective is to strengthen national capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to priority zoonotic diseases, combat antimicrobial resistance, and address food safety threats.
Within this framework, the procurement and handover of 22 vehicles represent an important investment in strengthening the country's public health system. The vehicles will support the operations of State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance Centers at the regional and district levels by enabling the safe and timely transportation of biological samples from field locations to public health laboratories, supporting the operation of border points of entry in accordance with the International Health Regulations (IHR 2005), and facilitating the rapid deployment of epidemiological response teams to areas affected by disease outbreaks.
The ceremony concluded with the official handover of the vehicles to the heads of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance Centers serving cities and districts throughout the Republic of Tajikistan.
