The Government of the Republic of Tajikistan continues to take the necessary measures to bring idle agricultural land into productive use, increase crop productivity, and strengthen food security in the country.
This year, with the support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, State Institute “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development”, under the “Strengthening Resilience of the Agriculture Sector Project”, has continued the drilling of vertical wells across the country to provide irrigation water to farms in need. To date, a significant number of the planned water supply facilities have already been put into operation, helping to irrigate agricultural lands and improve farming conditions.
Within the framework of the “Strengthening Resilience of the Agriculture Sector Project”, the institution’s engineers and environmental and social specialists regularly conduct initial screening and subsequently hold public meetings with personnel involved in project construction works.
This time, the institution’s environmental and social specialists visited the vertical well drilling sites in Rasht and Lakhsh districts and held public meetings with workers of the company engaged in drilling operations, as well as with residents of communities located around the project sites.
During the meetings, participants were provided with detailed information on the implementation of the Environmental Management Plan, the timely and high-quality completion of the planned works, consideration of feedback and suggestions from stakeholders, the results of environmental impact assessments, compliance with environmental and social standards, observance of sanitary and hygiene requirements, occupational health and safety measures, and the grievance redress mechanism.
