The implementation of continuous measures aimed at improving the agricultural sector, addressing existing challenges, and ensuring its sustainable development remains a top priority in achieving one of the country’s strategic national goals—strengthening food security and, most importantly, attaining greater self-sufficiency in food production in the Republic of Tajikistan.
With the support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development” has planned the establishment of agrologistics centers across the country to enhance agricultural production, facilitate processing, reduce post-harvest losses, improve storage and packaging capacities, and promote the export of agricultural products to international markets.
Under the Strengthening Resilience of the Agriculture Sector Project, a modern agrologistics center is being constructed with the capacity to process, package, and store more than 1,200 tons of agricultural produce. Equipped with modern infrastructure and technologies, the center is expected to significantly improve market access and address key challenges faced by agricultural producers.
On 11 June 2026, social and environmental specialists of the State Institution “Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development” conducted an environmental and social monitoring mission at the agrologistics center construction site.
As part of the monitoring process, detailed guidance and information were provided regarding the implementation of the Environmental Management Plan (EMP), taking into account stakeholder feedback, environmental impact assessment findings, and compliance with the World Bank’s Environmental and Social Standards (ESSs). Particular attention was paid to adherence to occupational health and safety requirements, sanitary and hygiene regulations, the applicable legal and regulatory framework of the Republic of Tajikistan, the project grievance redress mechanism, and other relevant national legislation.
Construction activities at the agrologistics center in Khujand, Sughd Region, are currently progressing steadily. The workforce and contractors involved in the project are making every effort to ensure the timely completion of this major facility while maintaining high construction quality standards and incorporating modern design solutions.
