Dear employees of the mass media!
Please accept our sincere congratulations on the occasion of your professional holiday — Tajik Press Day.
It should be noted that at the initiative and with the direct support of the Founder of Peace and National Unity — the Leader of the Nation and President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon in 1995 the Parliament of the country introduced amendments and additions to the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On Holidays,” according to which March 11 was declared Tajik Press Day, and since that year it has been officially celebrated throughout the country.
Thanks to independence, the system of press activity has also changed and now plays an important role in ensuring the informational, political, spiritual, and cultural environment of society.
The Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, highly appreciates the work of journalists, calling the press the eyes and ears of the people and one of the most important pillars of a democratic society. He has also stated: “Mass media, reflecting the condition of every society, give broad segments of the population the opportunity to understand the rapid processes of human life and, in general, to realize and defend their national interests in the course of geopolitical efforts.”
Indeed, your profession places an exceptional responsibility upon you before society: the level and quality of the national information space, which shapes public opinion and brings people information, knowledge, and moral ideals, largely depend on your work.
Despite the unprecedented development of information technologies and the predictions of many experts about the imminent disappearance of printed mass media, journalists have proven that the press remains resilient and necessary for both the state and the nation.
In fact, what newspapers and magazines publish and preserve on their pages cannot be replaced by any electronic medium. It is journalists who, through their dedicated work, sincere love for their profession, and collective efforts, can pour a piece of their hearts into their writing.
We wish that you continue to carry out your mission with full hearts and strong spirits. Your contribution to the development of society and the strengthening of state independence deserves special attention: you create history, a history that is passed down from one generation to another.
Taking this opportunity, we express our gratitude to all employees of the mass media, especially veterans of the field, for their loyalty to the state and the nation, for their correct and firm civic position, and for their objective coverage of the activities of the Parliament of Tajikistan.
We wish all of you good health and great success in your work and lives.
