Within the framework of cooperation between the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan and the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe, the opening ceremony of the second course of the OSCE School on Diplomacy, Leadership and Peacebuilding for Young Women was held in Dushanbe.
The second course brings together more than 20 women and young women from different regions of Tajikistan.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mavsuma Muini, Deputy Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan; Mr. Feizo Numanai, Acting Head of the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe; Ms. Parvati Ramaswamy, UN Resident Coordinator in Tajikistan; Ms. Katherine Smith, Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Tajikistan; and other representatives of state and executive authorities.
In her remarks, Mavsuma Muini, Deputy Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, emphasized that, since the early days of independence, the role and contribution of the wise and far-sighted Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, to establishing and developing friendly and diplomatic relations with various countries and international organizations, as well as to promoting the country and nation on the international stage, have been unparalleled.
Following the independence of the Republic of Tajikistan, a new stage of state-building, strengthening democratic institutions, and expanding international relations began. Over the years of independence, thanks to a balanced and constructive policy that takes into account the realities of the modern world, Tajikistan has secured a worthy place and reputation in the international community.
Over the past 35 years, the highest representative bodies of state power in Tajikistan – from the Supreme Council and the Majlisi Oli to the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli – have made significant efforts to establish and develop a system of interparliamentary relations and cooperation with other countries, as well as with major international and regional organizations.
The role and contribution of women to parliamentary diplomacy in the Republic of Tajikistan is an important issue that deserves particular attention and further study.
During the years of independence, women in Tajikistan have actively participated in the country's political, social, and public life. Alongside men, they have played a significant role in strengthening the foundations of statehood, developing parliamentarism, expanding international relations, and promoting peace and political stability.
The Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, has consistently paid special attention to women's participation in political life and public administration and has created favorable political and legal conditions for their increased involvement in state institutions, including parliament and the diplomatic sphere. With the direct support of the Leader of the Nation, Tajik women have earned a worthy place in parliamentary diplomacy and international relations.
Today, Tajik women make a significant contribution not only to lawmaking and representative activities, but also to promoting the country internationally, protecting national interests, and strengthening international cooperation.
“The implementation of the OSCE School on Diplomacy, Leadership and Peacebuilding for Young Women, as well as the meetings and dialogues, and the exchange of professional experience and political knowledge between deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan and participants of the School, constitute a valuable initiative aimed at promoting women's leadership and participation in public and political life, as well as supporting and empowering young women leaders from all OSCE participating States,” Mavsuma Muini emphasized.
The meeting was also attended by deputies Dilnoza Murodullozoda, member of the Committee on Legislation and Human Rights, and Bibiosiya Ayubi, member of the Committee on State Structure and Local Self-Government.
The course will continue until October 10. In accordance with the programme, participants will visit the new building of the Parliament of Tajikistan and attend a lecture and discussion with members of the Union of Women of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan and other people's deputies.
