On 6–7 October, a political dialogue entitled “Women Parliamentarians and Youth for Climate-Resilient Management of Water and Energy Resources in Central Asia” was held in Tashkent.
The event was attended by members of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan – Majidzoda Sarvinoz, Solizoda Naima and Kholboyzoda Nematullo, as well as Safarova Sitora, an employee of the Office of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan. They spoke on the issues under discussion.
The main objective of the political dialogue was to strengthen gender-responsive and intergenerational approaches in the development and implementation of state policy in the areas of climate change, water resource management, energy and sustainable development in Central Asia.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that water resources, energy, climate change adaptation and sustainable development are not merely technical or sector-specific issues, but are also important governance issues. Their effective resolution requires inclusive, cross-sectoral and forward-looking political decision-making, as well as the active participation of women and youth.
The dialogue created favourable conditions for strengthening regional cooperation, exchanging experience and discussing new ways to enhance the participation of women and youth in decision-making processes related to the management of water and energy resources in the context of climate change.
