On October 5, 2026, in the city of Arusha, United Republic of Tanzania, the delegation of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan participated in a number of parliamentary events held on the sidelines of the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
The delegation of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan comprised Munira Bobokhon Karimzoda, Chairman of the Committee of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan on Social Issues, Health Protection, Science, Education, Culture, and Youth and Women’s Policy; Rukhshona Vosifjon Vosifjonzoda, Member of the Committee of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan on Coordination of the Activities of the Majlisi Milli with the Majlisi Namoyandagon, Executive Authorities, Public Associations, Mass Media and Interparliamentary Relations; and Rustam Shohmurod, Deputy of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan and Chairman of the Committee of the Majlisi Namoyandagon on Legislation and Human Rights. The delegation participated in the main and side events of the IPU Assembly.
As part of the programme, a coordination meeting of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) was held. The meeting was organized by the APA Secretariat, during which current issues related to the Assembly’s activities and the expansion of interparliamentary cooperation were discussed. Participants discussed matters related to the Assembly’s activities, further coordination of relations among the parliaments of member states, and the role of interparliamentary cooperation in addressing issues of regional and international importance.
During the meeting, a report by the delegation of Nepal concerning the recent natural disaster in the country was also heard. Urgent issues proposed for inclusion in the agenda, as well as other current matters related to the Assembly’s activities, were also considered.
At the same time, the delegation of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan participated in a consultative meeting of the group of the Parliamentary Union of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
During the meeting, participants discussed issues related to the group’s activities within the framework of the 153rd IPU Assembly and the further development of interparliamentary cooperation. They also exchanged views on matters of common interest to the member states of the group and on the formation of a coordinated position regarding the agenda of the 153rd IPU Assembly.
The participation of the delegation of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan in these events contributes to the continuation of interparliamentary dialogue, the strengthening of relations with the parliaments of partner countries, and the further development of cooperation within the framework of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, the Parliamentary Union of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
The events of the 153rd IPU Assembly will continue until October 9, 2026.
