Today, Faizali Idizoda, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, met with Numan Kurtulmuş, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Türkiye.
Idizoda noted that Türkiye was among the first countries to recognize the independence of the Republic of Tajikistan and establish diplomatic relations. Thanks to the constructive initiatives of our leaders — His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, and His Excellency Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Türkiye — the multifaceted cooperation between Tajikistan and Türkiye continues to develop steadily and covers various mutually beneficial areas.
More than 80 cooperation documents have been signed to date to strengthen the legal foundation for friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries. These documents encompass important sectors such as politics, economy, trade and investment, education and culture, social affairs, humanitarian cooperation, and other key fields.
It is noteworthy that Tajikistan and Türkiye share similar positions on major international and regional issues. Our countries maintain effective partnership relations within international and regional organizations like the United Nations, the Economic Cooperation Organization, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and other multilateral structures and associations, taking into account mutual interests.
One of the key directions in the Majlisi Namoyandagon's international cooperation is inter-parliamentary relations with the legislative bodies of foreign countries, including Türkiye. The development and expansion of cooperation with the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Türkiye hold a special place in the Parliament of Tajikistan's international activities.
A new convocation of the Tajik–Turkish inter-parliamentary friendship group has been established, and dialogue is currently ongoing.
The Majlisi Namoyandagon has extensive experience in adopting laws and ratifying international agreements. We believe that political dialogue, exchange of experience, and regular visits by high-level parliamentary delegations – during which urgent and priority issues of political, economic, social, educational, healthcare, agricultural, and cultural cooperation are discussed – are of great importance.
“We express our readiness to strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation within the framework of existing cooperation documents between the two countries,” stated Idizoda. “At the same time, we seek further cooperation between committees and political factions of the Parliaments of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Türkiye.”
