A side event, "Climate Finance Partnership Evening," was held at the Dushanbe Botanical Garden as part of the 45th session of the Governing Council of the Green Climate Fund.
The event began with welcoming remarks from Ziyozoda Suleimon Rizai, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, and Mafalda Duarte, Executive Director of the Green Climate Fund, who emphasized that holding this event in Dushanbe reflects the international community's trust in Tajikistan and our shared commitment to strengthening cooperation in combating climate change.
This evening is an excellent opportunity to continue the exchange of views beyond the formal negotiations, strengthen partnerships, initiate new collaborations, and discuss effective ways to mobilize climate finance.
The Republic of Tajikistan considers the Green Climate Fund to be the most important international climate finance mechanism and a reliable partner in enhancing adaptation to climate change, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and implementing the goals of the Paris Agreement. The Government of the Republic of Tajikistan has identified climate policy and green development as a priority area of public policy. In this context, the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), the Green Economy Development Strategy for 2023–2037, and other strategic documents were adopted.
Therefore, Tajikistan's cooperation with the Green Climate Fund is of particular importance to us. The Fund's support plays a crucial role in strengthening national capacity, developing projects, and mobilizing climate investments to implement national priorities.
No country can prevent the negative impacts of climate change alone. Only by strengthening partnerships, coordinating investments, and sharing knowledge can we increase climate finance and promote sustainable development.
