On 20 September 2026, as part of the working visit of the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, to Sughd Region, the building of the Environmental Diagnostics, Analysis and Monitoring Centre of the Main Department of Environmental Protection in Sughd Region was opened in Khujand in honour of the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The opening ceremony was attended by Bahodur Sheralizoda, Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan; Firdavs Sharifzoda, Chairman of the City of Khujand; and Fayzullo Qosimi, Deputy Chairman of Sughd Region.
During the tour of the Centre, it was noted that the creation of favourable working conditions and the provision of the necessary equipment would further improve the quality of environmental diagnostics and monitoring.
The building has a total area of more than 500 square metres, consists of three floors and includes 14 offices. The first floor houses the laboratory and the offices of the Main Department’s Environmental Monitoring, Analysis and Information Division, equipped with the necessary facilities. The laboratory is equipped to analyse the composition of surface water, groundwater, wastewater, soil and atmospheric air, as well as to measure radiation levels. Offices for specialist analysts are also provided.
The second floor contains offices equipped with the necessary facilities for specialists and state inspectors. The third floor houses a reception area and a modern conference hall. The building has a total of five sanitary and hygiene facilities. The area in front of the building has also been landscaped with greenery and flowers.
Following the tour of the newly constructed facility, a meeting with the guests was held in the hall of the Main Department of Environmental Protection of Sughd Region. Bahodur Sheralizoda, Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan; Firdavs Sharifzoda, Chairman of the City of Khujand; and Fayzullo Qosimi, Deputy Chairman of Sughd Region, highly praised the quality of the completed work. A number of employees of Somoniyon Sokhtmon LLC were presented with Letters of Appreciation from the Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection.
