The International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer is one of the important international environmental observances and is celebrated annually on 16 September. The United Nations General Assembly established this day to commemorate the adoption of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. It has been observed worldwide since 1995.
In order to fulfil its international obligations in the field of ozone layer protection, including under the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol, the Republic of Tajikistan is implementing the necessary comprehensive measures.
On the occasion of the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, an information event was held at the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. Representatives of relevant ministries and government agencies, as well as representatives of the private sector, took part in the event.
The event was held as part of the implementation of the project “Integrated Programme for the Reduction of Hydrofluorocarbons and Sustainable Cooling in Tajikistan”. The agreement on the implementation of the project was signed in January of this year between the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the United Nations Development Programme.
