On 23 June 2026, the closing event of the project "Strengthening Tajikistan's Capacity to Access and Utilize Climate Finance", implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in partnership with the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, was held.
The event brought together representatives of government institutions, the private sector, civil society, international organizations, and experts to review the project's achievements, exchange experiences, and discuss future opportunities for advancing climate finance in the country.
The project achieved several significant results. In particular, more than 120 specialists, including 50 women, strengthened their knowledge and skills in climate finance and the mechanisms of the Green Climate Fund (GCF). The first regional Green Climate Fund project concept, entitled "Climate-Resilient Landscapes in Central Asia," covering Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, was developed and approved. In addition, the National Climate Finance Platform and a digital Knowledge Management System (KMS) were established, along with several other important achievements.
The results achieved provide a solid foundation for attracting further climate investments and implementing climate initiatives aimed at promoting the sustainable development of the Republic of Tajikistan.
