As part of the project “Integrated Landscape Approaches to Enhance Climate Resilience among Smallholder Farmers and Livestock Breeders in Tajikistan,” a training seminar on “Zoning and Management” was held in the “Romit” Biosphere Reserve. The seminar was attended by 40 staff members of the reserve.
During the event, participants received both theoretical and practical knowledge on territorial zoning, the use of thematic maps, determining coordinates using GPS devices, and methods of collecting field data. The theoretical part of the seminar focused on the importance of the region’s ecosystems, their role in maintaining ecological balance, preventing land degradation, and conserving biodiversity. It was emphasized that nature protection is essential for ensuring ecosystem sustainability and adapting to the impacts of climate change.
In the practical part of the training, participants became familiar with thematic maps, the reserve’s territory, and GPS devices. They also practiced using these tools in fieldwork, identifying geographic points, and recording necessary data.
Such seminars contribute to strengthening the professional capacity of staff working in protected natural areas, improving monitoring systems, and introducing modern methods of natural resource management.
