On October 27, a consultative seminar of the Committee for Environmental Protection was held to review the “Guidelines on Licensing Activities Involving Hazardous Waste.”
The guidelines are intended for the staff of the Committee for Environmental Protection and its regional branches. Their purpose is to provide practical, step-by-step recommendations for the preparation, review, and issuance of permits for hazardous waste management activities, as well as for the subsequent monitoring of compliance with permit conditions, in accordance with the requirements established by environmental protection laws.
At the seminar, Umed Ulugov, Director of the National Implementation Center of the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants, Tatyana Tuguy, an international legal specialist for the UNEP project, and Ruslan Shukurov, Director of the public organization “Peshsaf,” delivered oral presentations and demonstrations.
In another part of the seminar, the issues outlined in the guidelines were discussed in detail.
