It should be noted that, based on the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On Holidays,” November 16 is annually celebrated in our country as the **Day of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan**.
The ancient Tajik nation, which for thousands of years possessed statehood and traditions of state-building, after gaining national independence and uniting around its elected Leader, revived its state traditions anew. The contribution of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, to the restoration of peace and national unity, to leading the people out of the difficult post–civil war period, to strengthening cooperation with European countries, and to the recognition of Tajikistan by the states of the East and the West as a peace-loving and culturally oriented nation is unique and significant.
The Founder of Peace and National Unity – the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, within a short historical period, managed to turn ruins into prosperity, return hundreds of thousands of refugees from Afghanistan to their homeland and, most importantly, ensure the sustainable restoration of complete peace and national unity in our dear and beloved Tajikistan.
It was precisely the humane and wise policy of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, that made it possible not only to restore peace, unity, progress and prosperity in our country, but also to transform our homeland into one of the safest states in the region.
The remarkable talent for patriotism and state governance, manifested in the figure of the Great Son of the Tajik nation, the Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, allowed him, in a short historical span, to win the love and respect of the people of the country.
It should be emphasized that November 16, 1994, marked a new page in our state-building: on this day, our young and trustworthy Leader — His Excellency Emomali Rahmon — began his service as the People’s President. Undoubtedly, this historic day later became a decisive date that defined the bright development of the future independent Tajikistan.
