As previously reported, the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly on Social and Cultural Affairs was held for the first time in Dushanbe from September 24 to 26, 2026. The meeting was attended by the Secretary-General and Secretariat of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, as well as heads and parliamentary delegations from more than 20 member states of the organization.
As part of the program of activities, the visiting delegations today toured the new Parliament Building of Tajikistan. The building’s architectural design, artistic decorations, spacious halls, and the warm and traditional Tajik hospitality offered to the guests provided them with a memorable and pleasant experience.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Republic of Tajikistan. Tajikistan’s chairmanship of the Standing Committee provides an opportunity for the country to play an active role in advancing important social and cultural issues, coordinating the Committee’s activities, bringing the positions of the parliaments of member states closer together, and strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation.
The holding of the meeting in Tajikistan represents a continuation of the active participation of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan in the activities of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly. It contributes to strengthening inter-parliamentary dialogue, expanding cooperation among Asian countries, and jointly addressing important social, cultural, and humanitarian issues.
The guests’ sightseeing program, including an introduction to the history and culture of the ancient Tajik nation and visits to historical sites across the country, is continuing.
