Today, Chairman of the Committee of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Gulzoda Mahmadshoh held a meeting with Chairman of the Committee of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus on Refugee Affairs and Persons Residing in the Enclave, Christos Christofides.
During the meeting, it was noted that the European Union is one of Tajikistan’s important partners in the international arena, and that Mr. Christofides’ visit to Tajikistan is another clear indication of the parties’ interest in continuing mutually beneficial and multifaceted cooperation.
Gulzoda Mahmadshoh noted that today’s meeting is of great importance and practical value. He emphasized that the participation of Christos Christofides in the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly on Social and Cultural Affairs is a sign of respect and friendship between the two countries.
It was emphasized that relations between Tajikistan and the Republic of Cyprus are developing on the basis of political dialogue, cooperation with the European Union, and interaction within international organizations.
For many years, mutual respect has served as a solid foundation for the further development of bilateral relations.
It was noted that Tajikistan attaches great importance to the development of interparliamentary relations with the Republic of Cyprus and is interested in further expanding political dialogue, strengthening economic cooperation, and promoting the comprehensive development of relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the European Union.
In this context, particular attention is being paid to strengthening the legal and contractual framework, developing interparliamentary cooperation, strengthening human capacity, as well as establishing contacts in areas of mutual interest.
The Asian Parliamentary Assembly serves as a favorable platform for developing interparliamentary relations, expanding cooperation between relevant committees, and exchanging legislative experience.
At the conclusion of the meeting, satisfaction was expressed with the activities of the Republic of Cyprus within the framework of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, and the readiness of the Republic of Tajikistan to further cooperate with the Republic of Cyprus was reaffirmed.
