Today, Faizali Idizoda, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, met with Alimirzamin Gavvam oglu Askerov, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Tajikistan.
At the beginning of the meeting, Faizali Idizoda noted that although this meeting is being held on the occasion of the conclusion of Ambassador Askerov's diplomatic mission to the Republic of Tajikistan, it should not be considered their last meeting, as it remains highly important for the further expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan.
Faizali Idizoda emphasized that during the Ambassador's tenure, the friendly relations between the two countries have been further elevated and developed across all spheres. It was noted that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations in 1992, the friendly ties between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan have steadily developed and strengthened. Over this period, these relations have successfully progressed from a regular level to a strategic partnership.
"It is gratifying that relations between our countries are based on more than 94 international agreements at the interstate, intergovernmental, and interagency levels, which testifies to the effectiveness of the diplomatic efforts of both sides," the Chairman stated. "The great and invaluable achievements attained in our relations are the results of the efforts, sincere friendship, and political will of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan – Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, and the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, His Excellency Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev."
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties evaluated the ongoing constant dialogue, the active exchange of official visits by parliamentary friendship groups, and inter-parliamentary cooperation as highly important for the future of bilateral relations.
