Today, Faizali Idizoda, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, met with Mr. Jeon Sung-sik, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Tajikistan.
During the meeting, it was noted that diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Korea were established in 1992, and over this period, they have traversed a significant path of formation and development. For us, the Republic of Korea is an important and reliable partner in the Asia and Pacific region. Over more than 34 years of diplomatic relations, our nations have built a solid foundation of mutual trust and constructive cooperation, which continues to steadily develop across political, parliamentary, trade, economic, investment, humanitarian, and cultural spheres.
We express our satisfaction with the revitalization of bilateral cooperation in recent years. Notably, joint projects are being implemented in the fields of industry, energy, transport, education, digital technologies, human resources development, and staff training.
We are confident that interparliamentary diplomacy will play an important role in strengthening bilateral relations, ensuring the regular participation of parliaments and people's representatives in international relations.
We note with satisfaction that the trade and economic cooperation between the two countries is developing positively. In 2025 alone, the volume of mutual trade turnover reached 196.1 million US dollars, which testifies to the high level of interest from the business communities of both nations.
At the same time, it is necessary to effectively utilize existing opportunities and untapped potential for the further expansion of a mutually beneficial economic partnership.
We, the people's deputies, are fully prepared to contribute in every possible way to the development of trade and economic cooperation between our countries. Furthermore, we support active participation in the Meeting of Speakers of Parliaments of Central Asian Countries and the Republic of Korea, and we endorse the activities of friendship groups and interparliamentary cooperation.
"The Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan is ready to contribute in every possible way to strengthening the bilateral partnership and implementing mutually beneficial initiatives," Faizali Idizoda stated at the conclusion of the meeting.
