Today, Faizali Idizoda, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, met with Dr. Maryam binti Abdullah Al-Attiyah, Chairperson of the National Committee for Human Rights of the State of Qatar.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that the Human Rights Ombudsman in Tajikistan was established in March 2008.
"We are confident that your visit, along with that of the delegation from the National Committee for Human Rights of the State of Qatar, to Tajikistan within the framework of the Inter-agency Memorandum of Understanding with the Human Rights Ombudsman in the Republic of Tajikistan will create favorable conditions for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of protecting and advancing human rights and freedoms," stated Faizali Idizoda.
It is necessary to emphasize that the strengthening of our bilateral relations is rooted in the friendly and brotherly ties, as well as the wise policies pursued by the heads of our states—the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, and the Amir of the State of Qatar, His Excellency Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the State of Qatar were established on December 13, 1994, based on mutual respect, trust, understanding, and the protection of shared interests. Today, these relations have reached a high level of partnership and multilateral cooperation.
It is worth noting that a favorable legal framework for the development of Tajikistan-Qatar relations has been established today, backed by 42 intergovernmental and interagency agreements.
The protection and promotion of human rights and freedoms are among the most important priorities of the state policy of the Republic of Tajikistan. Under the guidance of the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, consistent measures are being taken in our country to improve legislation, strengthen national institutions, and fulfill international commitments in the field of human rights.
"You are, of course, aware that alongside Tajikistan's initiatives in the field of water diplomacy, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, has championed peace diplomacy as a key approach, which plays a significant role in strengthening human rights and freedoms.
The adoption of the UN resolution proposed by Tajikistan on the 'International Decade of Strengthening Peace for Future Generations' for 2027–2036 is of global significance. This is because the resolution reflects the goals and principles of the UN Charter, particularly the determination to 'save succeeding generations from the scourge of war' and the commitment to the peaceful settlement of disputes. It also recognizes the importance of the Declaration and Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace as a universal mandate to promote a culture of peace and non-violence."
"I am confident that our meeting will yield valuable results for strengthening the friendly relations between Tajikistan and Qatar, developing mutually beneficial cooperation in the protection of human rights and freedoms, and expanding the ongoing, constructive dialogue between the state institutions of our two countries," concluded Faizali Idizoda.
