Today, Faizali Idizoda, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, received Irakli Kobakhidze, the Prime Minister of Georgia, and his accompanying delegation.
It was noted that diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Georgia, established on August 4, 1994, with the signing of the Protocol "On the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations and the Exchange of Diplomatic Representations at the Level of Embassies," have developed steadily.
To expand cooperation with foreign parliaments, the Majlisi Namoyandagon has established friendship and cooperation groups with 69 countries worldwide, including the Caucasus countries.
On April 25, 2025, with the aim of strengthening parliamentary diplomacy, maintaining relations at a high level, and ensuring the stable development of inter-parliamentary ties, a Friendship and Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation group was established with the Parliament of Georgia.
"We are confident that the activities of the friendship and cooperation groups will be further strengthened, and the constant exchange of legislative experience with the relevant structures of the Parliament of Georgia will expand. The exchange of experience between the parliamentarians of our two countries benefits the progress of bilateral relations, helping to achieve our development goals and cultivate new, promising areas of cooperation," stated Faizali Idizoda.
The broadening of Trans-European and Trans-Asian inter-parliamentary cooperation within the framework of other international organizations, particularly the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE PA), was highlighted as highly important.
Tajikistan and Georgia are not only mountainous countries, but they also possess ancient histories and rich cultures. Furthermore, Tajikistan has ample experience in the management of water resources and hydropower. Therefore, an exchange of experience in developing legislation for this sector could greatly benefit the expansion of bilateral cooperation between our countries.
Confidence was expressed that today's meeting will also contribute to the development of Tajikistan-Georgia inter-parliamentary relations at a new level.
