Today, Ghiyosiddin Ashurzoda, Chairman of the Committee on Economy and Finance of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, met with a delegation from the World Bank
It was pointed out that the PEFA assessment is not only a means of international evaluation for the Republic of Tajikistan, but also one of the important mechanisms to analyze the real situation of the state financial management, determine achievements, and identify directions for the further strengthening of reforms.
The results of previous PEFA assessments served as an important basis for implementing comprehensive reforms in budget planning, improving treasury operations, strengthening state financial control, developing state audit systems, and increasing budget transparency.
This year’s PEFA assessment is of special importance, as it includes new critical aspects for the first time, evaluating public financial management with a focus on climate change, gender budgeting, and assessments at the local level.
The Majlisi Namoyandagon, as the supreme representative and legislative body of the country, plays an important role in ensuring parliamentary control over public funds.
Every year, we not only discuss the draft law of the Republic of Tajikistan 'On the State Budget,' but we also analyze the fiscal strategy, mid-term economic development forecasts, the effectiveness of public expenditures, and the outcomes of state programs.
In this regard, I would especially like to highlight the contribution of the World Bank and other development partners to the advancement of public financial reforms in the Republic of Tajikistan. Throughout the years of cooperation, their technical and advisory support has significantly contributed to strengthening financial institutions, developing human capacity, and introducing best international practices.
We are ready for dialogue, an exchange of views, and professional discussion. It is precisely this kind of cooperation that gives us the opportunity to turn evaluation results into an effective tool for improving state policy and achieving sustainable economic development,” concluded Ghiyosiddin Ashurzoda.
