Today, a virtual meeting was held on the occasion of the Constitution Day and the State Flag Day of Turkmenistan. The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Committee on State Structure and Local Self-Government, Ilhom Kamolzoda, and the head of the Tajikistan-Turkmenistan inter-parliamentary friendship and cooperation group, Ghayrat Azizzoda, both of whom delivered speeches.
It was noted that Constitution Day and State Flag Day are considered significant dates, serving as symbols of independence, state sovereignty, and the national unity of Turkmenistan. In modern conditions, the connection between constitutions and the international development agenda, primarily the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, takes on special importance. These goals include the eradication of poverty, ensuring healthcare, quality education, economic growth, and the reduction of inequality.
Using the example of CIS countries, it is clearly observed that the constitution acts as a vital legal tool for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The model of a social state is reinforced in the constitutions of CIS countries. In all these nations, the state commits to providing social support, minimum living standards, pensions, and benefits.
The experience of Tajikistan also demonstrates the importance of parliamentary participation in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. The Parliament of the Republic adopts legislative acts aimed at the development of education, social protection, entrepreneurship, and youth policy, and also participates in forming the legal framework for national development strategies through 2030.
In modern conditions, the state policy of the Republic is directed toward supporting the private sector, developing small and medium-sized enterprises, attracting investment, and creating favorable conditions for the economic activity of the population.
