The Committee on International Affairs, Public Associations and Information of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan held parliamentary hearings on the State Program for the Development of Television and Radio in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021–2025.
The event was attended by deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon, representatives of political party factions, the Chairman of the Committee for Television and Radio under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and his deputies, representatives of the National Information Agency “Khovar,” the “Television and Radio Networks of the Republic of Tajikistan,” as well as members of civil society.
The parliamentary hearings aimed to identify ways to strengthen cooperation and to discuss issues related to the coverage and implementation of the State Program.
During the discussions, participants reviewed the effectiveness of the Program’s outcomes, the competitiveness of the television and radio sector, its role in ensuring the country’s information security, and key approaches to addressing existing challenges in the field.
It was noted that the primary objective of the State Program is to improve the level and quality of television and radio content and to align it with modern standards.
Participants emphasized that the sustainable development of television and radio is impossible without continuous improvement of legislation, alignment with international standards, and increased social responsibility of the media.
Special attention was drawn to the emergence of new realities, including digital and online broadcasting and streaming platforms. In this context, it was stressed that legal frameworks must cover not only traditional broadcasting, but also digital content, copyright, personal data protection, and the responsibility of information disseminators.
It was underscored that the state language, culture, history, and national traditions should occupy a worthy place in the television and broadcasting space.
