Today, under the chairmanship of Amirzoda Orif, Head of the Ecology Commission of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, a meeting was held. The topic of discussion was "The Importance of Including the Global Initiatives of the Republic of Tajikistan on Water and Climate Issues in the Address of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan dated December 16, 2026."
During the meeting, it was noted that in 2025, as part of its global initiatives aimed at implementing the United Nations resolution on the "International Year of Glacier Preservation," the Republic of Tajikistan hosted the first High-Level International Conference on Glacier Preservation.
On December 12 of this year, at the initiative of Tajikistan, a resolution entitled “Protection of Glaciers and the Cryosphere, Especially in Mountain Regions” was adopted during the 7th session of the United Nations Environment Assembly.
The adoption of this resolution, along with other initiatives, represents recognition and support by the international community for Tajikistan's constructive efforts on pressing issues of the global agenda.
The meeting also heard a report by Ikromi Fazliddin, Deputy Chair of the Ecology Commission of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, on the progress of preparations for the national competition titled “Glacier Preservation as an Important Factor in Ensuring a Bright Future for Humanity.”
