Today, Faizali Idizoda, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, met with Muhammad Saeed Sarwar, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
At the beginning of the meeting, Idizoda noted that although the discussion was held on the occasion of the completion of the Ambassador’s diplomatic mission in the Republic of Tajikistan, he was confident this would not be their last meeting. He emphasized the necessity of such contacts for the future expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan were established in 1992. Over the past 34 years, through the initiatives of the highest leadership of both countries, these relations have developed from a normal level of cooperation to a strategic partnership — a source of satisfaction.
Idizoda emphasized that these relations are rooted in the spiritual, cultural, and historical ties between the two friendly nations, as well as in the brotherly relations between His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Tajikistan and Leader of the Nation, and His Excellency Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
These strategic relations are developing on the basis of mutual understanding and consideration of mutual interests, contributing to the advancement of legislative activity and the expansion of inter-parliamentary relations.
The strengthening of cooperation in defense and security, economy, energy, investment, transport, tourism, as well as cultural and scientific relations between the parties was noted as significant.
The Majlisi Namoyandagon expressed its interest in sustainably expanding cooperation with the National Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
Ongoing dialogue, exchange of official visits by delegations of friendship groups, and inter-parliamentary cooperation were assessed as important.
