During his working visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Faizali Idizoda, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan, met with the Ambassador and staff of the Tajik Embassy in Azerbaijan.
Faizali Idizoda extended his congratulations to the embassy staff on this significant and noble milestone of the country’s independence — the adoption of the Constitution of Tajikistan. He highlighted that on November 6, the Constitution will mark its 31st anniversary. This historic date holds special importance as it commemorates the establishment of national statehood and the strengthening of political, social, and national stability and security.
The Constitution of Tajikistan was first adopted through a national referendum in 1994, marking a landmark moment in the history of Tajik statehood. Since then, it has been amended via national referendums on September 26, 1999, June 22, 2003, and May 22, 2016, in response to evolving needs. These changes have enabled the development of a comprehensive legal and political system, providing a firm foundation for modern statehood and supporting the nation’s economic, social, and political progress.
International legal instruments recognized by Tajikistan are considered an integral part of the country’s legal framework.
Tajikistan continues to pursue a policy of peace while respecting the sovereignty and independence of other nations.
"It is gratifying that Chapter 3 of the Constitution, entitled 'The Majlisi Oli,' defines and regulates the work of the country’s parliament," F. Idizoda concluded.
