Today, the Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, Faizali Idizoda, participated in and delivered a speech at the International Parliamentary Conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Mr. Idizoda highlighted that this milestone celebration is not only a ceremonial occasion but also a symbol of the resilience, wisdom, and progress of the Azerbaijani people in strengthening statehood, legislation, and the rule of law. The Constitution serves as the foundation for the development of any state, guarantees the rights and freedoms of citizens, and provides a basis for peace and stability.
He emphasized that the friendly relations between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan today exemplify strategic partnership and constructive cooperation. The two countries share deep historical, cultural, and spiritual ties, united by common values and longstanding traditions of friendship.
Mr. Idizoda also noted the significant contribution of the leaders of both nations—the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, His Excellency Heydar Ilham oghlu Aliyev, and the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon—in strengthening and expanding bilateral relations.
The President of the Republic of Tajikistan, esteemed Emomali Rahmon, conducted a state visit to Azerbaijan in May 2024 and, in November 2023, participated as an honorary guest in the Summit of Heads of States and Governments of the countries involved in the UN Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia, held in Baku. These visits marked important milestones in the development of Tajik-Azerbaijani relations and culminated in the signing of the “Declaration on Strategic Partnership” between the two nations.
In turn, President Ilham Aliyev participated in October of this year in the session of the Council of Heads of States of the Commonwealth of Independent States, held in Dushanbe. His presence underscored the high level of mutual trust and effective cooperation between our countries within the multilateral international arena.
The 30th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan is a landmark event defining the continued development of the country as a united, sovereign, secular, and democratic state.
Respect for equality and friendship among all peoples constitutes the core principles of Azerbaijan’s constitutional system. The Constitution, as the principal political and legal document of the country, embodies the most important and progressive values, reinforces state independence and sovereignty, and enhances Azerbaijan’s international standing. It provides a solid foundation for sustainable development, national unity, and internal stability, supporting the country's steady progress in contemporary historical circumstances. The Constitution serves as a pillar for the enduring development of the state and society, ensuring internal stability and national integrity. In today's uncertain global environment, safeguarding stability and national interests is achievable only through societal cohesion, strengthened unity, and adherence to constitutional principles. Respect for the Constitution reflects society’s commitment to the ideals of freedom, justice, the rule of law, and human rights, Mr. Idizoda concluded.
The conference was followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the monument to the national heroes of Azerbaijan.
