Today, the Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, Faizali Idizoda, held a meeting with the chairmen of committees and commissions on defense and security from the parliaments of the CSTO member states. These officials had arrived in Dushanbe to participate in the consultative meeting on defense and security of the CSTO parliamentary assembly, convened under the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly.
During his address, Mr. Faizali Idizoda emphasized the special attention devoted to holding this significant event within the framework of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly. He noted that today’s meeting serves as a necessary mechanism to enhance cooperation among the parliaments of our countries in the field of defense and security, reaffirming the CSTO's vital responsibility in maintaining peace, tranquility, stability, and security in the region.
Cooperation within the framework of the CSTO and its Parliamentary Assembly holds paramount importance for the Republic of Tajikistan. In particular, the Parliamentary Assembly strengthens joint efforts, facilitates the coordination of legislative activities, promotes the exchange of experience, and fosters the establishment of legal foundations for effective collaboration between law enforcement agencies and civil society across member states.
The contributions of all participants to strengthening the legal framework of collective security, as well as to the advancement of national defense systems and law enforcement, are highly valued.
Today’s meeting provides a timely opportunity for the expression of views, exchange of ideas, clarification of positions, reinforcement of trust, and cultivation of mutual understanding among the member states.
In the contemporary world, security cannot be ensured without extensive international cooperation. Within this context, the CSTO, alongside other organizations such as the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and BRICS, demonstrates a high degree of solidarity and the capability to adopt coordinated and joint decisions on the most pressing issues.
We consider it imperative to continue fortifying the southern borders of the CSTO and to strengthen cooperation between the defense and law enforcement bodies of our respective countries. Additionally, active engagement in information exchange and a unified stance against all forms of cross-border threats are of utmost importance.
The Republic of Tajikistan further noted that it pursues a consistent policy of peace, good neighborliness, and mutual understanding. The country remains ready to collaborate with all partners committed to ensuring stability and security in the region.
“I am confident that this meeting provides the necessary platform to discuss ways to enhance the legal mechanisms of collective defense, to share practical experience, and to identify priorities for the near future,” stated Mr. Faizali Idizoda.
Parliaments, as representative bodies of the people, play a crucial role in fostering and cultivating a culture of trust, mutual understanding, and responsibility towards citizens and regional partners.
It was expressed with confidence that today’s meeting represents a firm and significant step towards strengthening cooperation among the parliaments of the CSTO member states.
