Today, Faizali Idizoda, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Tajikistan, Ms. Furuta Keiko.
During the meeting, it was noted that diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Japan were established on February 2, 1992. Over the years, these relations have strengthened, laying a solid foundation of mutual trust and respect, which fosters further development of practical cooperation.
“For us, the members of the Parliament of Tajikistan, comprehensive cooperation with Japan is of great importance. The successes achieved in bilateral relations are the result of friendly ties, political will, and the constructive and forward-looking initiatives of the leaders of our countries,” said Faizali Idizoda.
He also expressed gratitude to the Government of Japan for financial and technical assistance, particularly through projects implemented by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Mr. Idizoda highlighted Japan’s significant contribution to the successful implementation of Tajikistan’s National Development Strategy until 2030, which aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The development of Tajikistan-Japan relations encompasses over 70 bilateral international agreements, reflecting the effectiveness of diplomatic cooperation between the two countries.
Tajikistan consistently supports Japan’s constructive initiatives in international and regional organizations, of which Tajikistan is a member.
The “Central Asia + Japan” dialogue was recognized as an important platform for cooperation, with proposals to hold meetings of parliamentarians from Central Asian countries within this framework.
The Majlisi Namoyandagon will continue efforts to strengthen relations between Tajikistan and Japan through international cooperation mechanisms, particularly within the United Nations, the Inter-Parliamentary Union, and the Friendship and Cooperation Group between the parliaments of Tajikistan and Japan.
