The main goal of the round table was to discuss the priorities and challenges in the development of legislation related to settlements and rural areas, to strengthen the legal foundation for local self-governance, establish effective cooperation mechanisms, and support the sustainable development of urban and rural communities in the country.
It was noted that thanks to the fair and forward-looking policies of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Emomali Rahmon, the local governance system has achieved notable progress.
The Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On the Self-Government Bodies of Settlements and Villages”, which has been improved in recent years, creates favorable conditions for active citizen participation in addressing key local issues.
Participants of the event proposed a number of suggestions and recommendations that could contribute significantly to the further development of legislation and the design of future government programs in the area of local governance.
