A ceremonial event commemorating the 34th anniversary of the Republic of Tajikistan's State Independence was held today in the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan.
During the event, Faizali Idizoda, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, delivered a keynote address, in which he stated:
“Tajikistan’s independence and sovereignty - achieved after centuries of sacrifice, perseverance, and tireless effort by our freedom-loving people - represent an invaluable and deeply meaningful achievement. This historic milestone granted the Tajik nation full authority over its destiny and positioned our country as a sovereign democratic state within the global community.
History shows that our people have long strived to restore a national state and gain true independence. Today, through the establishment of an independent Republic of Tajikistan, we have fulfilled that long-standing national aspiration.
Independence is the identity card of a fully sovereign Tajik state in the international arena. Thanks to it, Tajikistan independently determines its system of governance as well as its domestic and foreign policies.
Under the leadership and guidance of the Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, and as a result of the dedicated and patriotic efforts of our proud citizens, the foundations of the modern Tajik state have been firmly established as democratic, legal, secular, and socially oriented. Our country has gained widespread international recognition, and - most importantly - the foundation has been laid for comprehensive development across all sectors of society and improvement in the population’s standard of living
At this critical juncture in our history, the sacred symbols of statehood - the Constitution, the National Emblem, Flag, and Anthem - were adopted. The country’s constitutional framework and governance structure were formalized, a professional parliament was established, and parliamentary diplomacy began to take shape.
The role of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Founder of Peace and National Unity and Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, in the formation of our national state and the expansion of independence and freedom, has been profound.
Our national development goals - achieving energy independence, overcoming geographic isolation, transforming Tajikistan into a transit hub, ensuring food security and access to quality nutrition, accelerating industrialization, and expanding productive employment -clearly demonstrate that the Leader of the Nation defines state-building priorities based on political, economic, and cultural imperatives.
Since gaining independence, Tajikistan’s image has undergone a complete transformation. Thanks to the unified and patriotic efforts of our honorable citizens and the constructive leadership of the Leader of the Nation, development and infrastructure projects across the country’s cities and districts have gained significant momentum.
Sustainable and rapid development of the country requires timely and comprehensive legal reforms. Our legal system must be continuously improved in line with ongoing political, economic, social, and cultural reforms.
In one of his insightful and guiding addresses to the Majlisi Oli, the Leader of the Nation credited the country’s current achievements to the laws developed and adopted by the parliament.
In this context, I am confident that we - deputies of parliament and the staff of the Majlisi Namoyandagon - will continue to work with patriotism, diligence, and vigilance. We remain committed to enhancing the beauty and strength of our beloved country, further strengthening our sovereign state, improving and drafting legislation in the people’s interest, and raising Tajikistan’s standing on the global stage.”
Speeches were also delivered by Shokhmurod Rustam, Chairman of the Committee on Legislation and Human Rights, Sarvinoz Majidzoda, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Social Affairs, Family, and Health Protection, Shahboz Abror, a deputy of the Majlisi Namoyandagon, and Begnazar Abubakrzoda, Head of the Organizational Division of Department for Foreign and Inter-Parliamentary Relations, Protocol, and Organization of Work. They spoke about the meaning and importance of independence, the role of women in society, and the many achievements of the Tajik people under the leadership of the Leader of the Nation during the independence era.
The event concluded with the presentation of state awards to several staff members of the Majlisi Namoyandagon, as decreed by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, in honor of the 34th anniversary of Tajikistan’s State Independence. In addition, a number of other employees were recognized with certificates of honor from the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan.
