During the meeting, it was noted that diplomatic relations between the Republic of India and the Republic of Tajikistan were established in 1992. In recent years, multifaceted cooperation between Tajikistan and India has been steadily expanding, thanks to the constructive initiatives of the top leadership of both countries - the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, and the Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Honorable Narendra Modi.
Bilateral cooperation is developing across various sectors, including politics, economics, trade, investment, social affairs, health, culture, humanitarian efforts, defense, and security.
We would like to remind that, in this regard, the Declaration on Principles and Directions of Cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of India, adopted on February 15, 1993, in New Delhi, holds great significance.
The legal framework for cooperation between our countries consists of more than 74 agreements and legal documents.
Bilateral relations continue to gain momentum through state, official, and working visits by the top leadership, as well as meetings on the sidelines of prominent international organizations and institutions such as the United Nations (UN), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and the Inter-Parliamentary Union - particularly within the framework of the Central Asia–India Dialogue platform.
It was noted that inter-parliamentary relations will continue to develop and strengthen across various areas, including legislative activity.
