Tajikistani parliamentarian Mr. G. Azizzoda, a member of the Committee on State Structure and Local Self-Government of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, recently participated in the International Parliamentary Forum held in Avaza, Turkmenistan. In his address to the forum, Mr. Azizzoda emphasized the significance of such gatherings for collaborative efforts to tackle challenges faced by nations without direct access to the sea.
The Republic of Tajikistan, being a landlocked nation, prioritizes securing sustainable access to international markets. This includes developing transit infrastructure, embracing digital transformations, and fostering robust regional cooperation. The Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honourable Emomali Rahmon, has consistently advocated on behalf of the unique challenges faced by landlocked countries on the global stage. Notably, his initiative led to the UN General Assembly’s adoption of the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development, 2018–2028." This decade focuses on the sustainable and effective management of water resources across various sectors, underscoring Tajikistan’s commitment to addressing critical development issues.
Tajikistan is actively engaged in regional initiatives aimed at fostering economic development, particularly through the establishment of new transportation and energy routes. Notably, Tajikistan’s participation in the CASA-1000 project seeks to connect Central Asia with South and Southeast Asia, thereby significantly enhancing export opportunities and logistical capabilities for landlocked nations.
Furthermore, the discussions emphasized the crucial role parliaments play in addressing current challenges.
