Today, under the chairmanship of Aziz Giezoda, Deputy Chairperson of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Lower House) of the Majlisi Oli (Supreme Assembly) of the Republic of Tajikistan, a roundtable was held on the topic “Processes of Implementing Green Energy on the Path to Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals” (in the fields of energy, construction, and transport).
This event was dedicated to the work plan of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Committee on Energy, Industry, Construction, and Communications within the framework of implementing the Development Strategy of the “Green” Economy of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2023-2037. It focused on the processes of implementing green energy in the sectors of energy, construction, and transport, the current state and prospects for the effective and rational use of available resources, as well as the consideration of cooperation elements between ministries and agencies to create a sustainable foundation for implementing green energy processes in the sectors of the national economy.
The Leader of the Nation, respected Emomali Rahmon, in his Address to the Majlisi Oli, instructed the government to continue prioritizing issues such as increasing diversification and competitiveness of the national economy, expanding the process of digitalization of the economy, implementing the “green economy,” accelerating industrialization, utilizing innovative technologies, and developing human potential. On this basis, sustainable and quality development of the national economy should be ensured.
It was noted that over 60 percent of Central Asia’s water resources are formed on the territory of Tajikistan, and electricity in the country is mainly generated from renewable energy sources. To achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, including combating climate change and ensuring universal access to affordable and reliable energy sources, the “Electric Transport Development Program of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2023-2028” is being implemented. In this regard, the construction of energy-efficient buildings and structures, as well as the overall development of “green” cities, was recognized as important.
