A scientific and practical conference titled “Gender Equality and Biodiversity: A Path to Systemic Change” was held in Dushanbe to promote Tajistan’s environmental agenda. The event brought together representatives of government institutions, international organizations, the scientific community, civil society, the private sector, and local communities. Participants delivered presentations and discussed the role of women in biodiversity conservation and the sustainable management of natural resources.
During the conference, it was highlighted that successful experiences and initiatives demonstrate the significant contribution of women to environmental protection, sustainable agriculture, ecological entrepreneurship and scientific research. It was noted that, thanks to the country’s state independence, special attention is now being paid to increasing women’s participation in decision-making processes related to environmental protection, strengthening cross-sectoral cooperation, and advancing scientific and research activities.
A separate session of the conference was dedicated to the presentation of the “National Roadmap for Expanding Women’s Participation in Biodiversity Conservation and the Launch of the National Digital Platform on Gender and Biodiversity.” This initiative aims to strengthen partnerships, promote gender-inclusive approaches in biodiversity conservation, support sustainable development, and further advance Tajikistan’s environmental agenda.
