On July 10, 2026, a large meeting of the Advisory Council of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan was held in the hall of the administrative building of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. The meeting discussed the performance of the Committee and its subordinate bodies for the first half of 2026 and identified objectives for the next period.
The meeting was chaired by Bakhodur Sheralizoda, Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, and Salimzoda Salim, a representative of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, the First Deputy Chairperson and Deputy Chairpersons, officials of the structural bodies of the Committee's central office, heads of structural divisions of the Hydrometeorological Agency, the Specially Protected Natural Areas Agency, subordinate centers and institutions, heads of the main environmental protection departments in GBAO, the regions, and the city of Dushanbe, the Department of Environmental Protection of Kulyab Region, and environmental protection departments and sections in the republic's districts.
First, Deputy Chairman of the Committee Loik Rahmonzoda presented a report on the performance of the Committee and its subordinate bodies for the first half of 2026.
During the discussion, Committee Chairman Bakhodur Sheralizoda expressed his opinion on shortcomings and omissions in the areas of activity of the structures, questioned the responsible officials about the causes and factors behind the ineffectiveness of some inspectors of industry bodies during the first six months of this year, and issued strict instructions to address the identified deficiencies.
Meanwhile, during the council meeting, officials from the Meteorological Agency, specially protected natural areas, the Main Directorate for Environmental Protection of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Okrug, Sughd and Khatlon regions, the Investment Projects Implementation Center, the National Center for the Implementation of the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants, and the Department of State Environmental Expertise reported on their activities in their respective areas.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Committee Chairman Bakhodur Sheralizoda instructed the relevant officials to address shortcomings and deficiencies in their respective areas, assume high responsibility in their public service activities, promote environmental protection, ensure environmental safety for the population, and improve environmental education, while strictly adhering to current rules and regulations. They also instructed them to promptly implement the instructions and directions of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, who spoke at the opening of the Committee's administrative building on September 17, 2025. They also instructed them to effectively implement state strategies and programs, improve environmental digitalization, waste management, and cleanliness, and to properly celebrate the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan's independence.
In light of the issues discussed, proposals, and instructions made, a corresponding resolution was adopted at the general meeting of the Council.
