On 28 May this year, a meeting was held between the сhairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Bahodur Sheralizoda, and the General Director of the Chinese Company Wangneng Environment, Ping Song, to discuss the prospects of constructing a waste to energy plant in Tajikistan.
The negotiations are currently at an early stage, and environmental and energy experts have already begun assessing the technical, economic, and ecological feasibility of the potential project. The proposed plant is expected to address one of Dushanbe’s major challenges - the disposal and processing of more than 1,500 tons of waste per day - while also generating electricity and heat to partially meet the city’s needs.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to implement a joint project.
