In the modern world, issues related to climate change have become one of the global challenges. Rising air temperatures, melting glaciers, drying springs and small rivers, as well as other natural disasters, negatively affect the socio-economic life of people. Year by year, climate change is having an increasing impact on the environment.
Climate scientists consider greenhouse gas emissions to be one of the main causes of climate change.
According to climate and hydrometeorological data, Tajikistan holds a notable position among the countries of Central Asia for its low greenhouse gas emissions. Despite being a leader in the development of “green energy,” the country remains vulnerable to the effects of climate change, especially in the areas of agriculture and water supply. Therefore, the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan continues to strengthen cooperation with international organizations in adapting to climate change.
In 2025, during the seventh session of the United Nations Environment Assembly in Nairobi, Kenya, the resolution “Protection of Glaciers and the Cryosphere” was adopted at the initiative of Tajikistan. This initiative further strengthened Tajikistan’s international role in promoting water and climate issues.
It should be noted that climate change was first discussed globally in 1992 at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, where more than 180 countries signed the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Protecting the Earth’s climate depends on each of us. Planting trees, saving electricity can make an important contribution to environmental protection
