In order to protect and conserve fish resources, create favorable conditions for natural reproduction, and prevent violations, fishing was prohibited in the rivers and reservoirs of the Sughd Region from March 15 to June 1, 2026.
The measures were implemented in accordance with an order issued by the Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection, under which an operational headquarters consisting of 27 members was established.
From March 15 to April 15, 2026, as part of the implementation of the action plan, 84 enforcement raids were conducted and 37 inspection reports were prepared. In response to violations, 6 case files involving 9 individuals (from the cities and districts of Guliston, Konibodom, J. Rasulov, Asht, and B. Gafurov) were compiled under Article 230 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan and submitted to law enforcement authorities for further consideration.
At the same time, specialists from the E.N. Pavlovsky Institute of Zoology and Parasitology of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan, within the framework of the scientific study “Development and Forecasting of the Fish Resource Potential of the Tajik Sea Reservoir and the Syr Darya River for 2026-2030,” conducted ichthyological studies more than 10 times in cooperation with inspectors and fishermen and assessed the spawning process as satisfactory.
