On April 6, 2026, a meeting of the Board of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan was held to summarize the results of activities for the first quarter of 2026. The meeting was attended by the Committee’s leadership, a representative of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, heads of the Committee’s central and local structures, subordinate institutions and organizations, as well as officials responsible for key areas of the sector.
The meeting was opened by the Chairman of the Committee, Sheralizoda Bahodur Ahmadjon, after which the agenda was approved in accordance with established procedures. Then, the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Shukurzoda Isfandiyor Shukur, presented a detailed analytical report on the results of the Committee’s activities and its structures for the first quarter of 2026. The report noted that during the reporting period, the Committee’s work focused on state environmental control, protection of natural resources, improvement of environmental conditions, prevention of violations, and implementation of regulatory legal acts. Despite significant achievements, certain shortcomings were also identified.
Reports were also presented by the heads of the Main Departments for Environmental Protection of the Sughd and Khatlon regions, the city of Dushanbe, the Environmental Protection Department in the Kulob region of Khatlon, as well as departments and sectors in districts of republican subordination. These reports analyzed the environmental conditions in the regions, the performance of local structures, the implementation of state programs, and existing challenges.
It was emphasized that 2026 marks the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan, and therefore, through increased efforts, closer inter-agency cooperation, and a responsible approach to work, even more significant results should be achieved.
At the conclusion of the meeting, key tasks for the next quarter and for summarizing the first half of the year were defined. Relevant decisions were adopted and forwarded to responsible officials for implementation.
