In order to ensure compliance with sectoral legislation in the field of flora protection and to prevent the illegal trade of wild-growing plants, officers of the State Control Department for the Use and Protection of Flora and Fauna and Fish Resources carried out an operational measure, during which a case of uprooting wild snowdrops and preparing them for sale was identified.
The Department’s officers promptly intervened and stopped the violation. Taking into account the circumstances, explanatory work was conducted with the citizens involved. They were informed about the legal requirements concerning the protection of rare plants, the legal liability for their illegal collection and sale, as well as the ecological importance and the necessity of preserving biodiversity.
The competent authorities emphasize that the protection of natural resources, including wild-growing plants, is a shared responsibility of society. Preventing such cases contributes to maintaining ecological balance and preserving the country’s natural heritage.
