At the initiative of the Main Department for Environmental Protection of Sughd Region, with the support and cooperation of the United Nations Development Programme, a training workshop was held in the department’s hall for teachers on integrating climate education into the learning process using the “Climate Box” toolkit.
The training was attended by teachers from secondary schools in the cities of Khujand, Guliston, Buston, as well as the districts of Bobojon Ghafurov District, Jabbor Rasulov District, and Spitamen District. The training sessions were conducted by national consultant Vladimir Kosheev and eco-trainer, integrated water resources management specialist Dilrabo Shukri, covering interactive educational topics related to climate change.
Participants became familiar with current aspects of climate change and its impact on the region and the environment, as well as practical tools and methodologies, including the use of the updated “Climate Box.” Issues related to integrating climate topics into school lessons and extracurricular activities were also discussed.
Organizing such training workshops contributes to the development of environmental literacy, provides comprehensive information about climate change and its consequences, and promotes the introduction of modern interactive teaching methods among school students. It is planned to involve an even greater number of teachers in similar activities in the future.
